Big and beautiful?!?

Over the past few years I have received compliments like “even though you are big you are still beautiful” as touching and those compliments may be I still find them insulting. I am what people consider to be plus sized; this somehow puts a limit on how ‘beautiful’ I can be.  I wouldn’t dream of going up to my naturally slim friend and say “you’re beautiful even though you are skinny” so why should it be different for others? Why can’t all people of all body shapes and sizes be considered beautiful? In addition, I do strongly believe that beauty isn’t just a matter of physical appearance it’s the moral and emotional side of a person too.

Undoubtedly I could afford to lose some weight, I could cut calories, hit the gym but I simply don’t want to. I value other aspects of my life more highly than my physical appearance like my education, my hobbies and interests. I can definitely think of worse things to be in the world than fat. But for the record if I was to take refuge during a zombie apocalypse my fat stores could keep me alive for a very long time (just saying). To reiterate my point A GOOD PHYSICAL APPERANCE IS NOT THE ULTIMATE FACTOR FOR SUCCESS. As human beings we can be so much more than just physically attractive , we can be funny, intelligent, compassionate and so much more! My fat is just stored energy cells it does not limit me in any of my personal qualities. I am happy and healthy, that is what matters to me and the people I care about most.

The bottom line is no matter what your body size is you deserve to be appreciated , don’t shame someone for being skinny equally do not shame someone for carrying more weight . Their life decisions do not impact you so keep your mouth shut.  We all beautiful in our own ways, we are not big but beautiful or small but beautiful, we are just beautiful. Nobody is going to convince me otherwise.

Always ,
